When saving a new QuickBooks file, be sure to always save to your Z drive. This can be especially tricky when using the Express Setup wizard in QB as it does not specifically ask you where you would like to save the file. Instead, if you use the Express Setup, you will need to click the Preview Settings button before creating the file to verify the save location is correct.
By default, the first time you save a company file, the application will default saving to the public application server, an unsecured area that will not allow you to access them going forward. Unfortunately, there is no way to change this in QuickBooks. If you think you have mistakenly saved a file to the public application server instead of your Z drive, please contact support right away and they can help you move the file to the correct, secure location for your access going forward.
